Chapter 2: Girls, Girls, Girls!

It didn’t take long to get Smurfette set up with a house, as there already seemed to be an empty one. All the furniture was pink and frilly and old, but it was the perfect place to hide out and let Gargamel know what was going on- if the Smurf in overalls would just get out of her way.
"Just let me make sure the walls are all patched up, and I'll be out of your hair," the aforementioned Smurf said. "Oh, wait, actually, one more thing. What sort of new furniture do you want?" When Smurfette still looked confused, the Smurf continued. "You know, to replace this frilly stuff. The previous occupant’s taste was a little... eccentric, and it's practically falling apart anyways." They hit the back of an armchair, and proceeded to cough as dust billowed out.
"Oh, you don't have to make me new furniture," Smurfette said. There wasn't going to be time, she thought.
"But I-"
"Oh, no. Don't worry about it." She walked over to them, and leaned in close. They blushed. Score! "You've already done so much for me. Without you, I wouldn't have a roof over my head, or a place to stay... I don't know what ever I could do to thank you."
"Ah..." The Smurf looked away. "No problem, Smurfette. I am the handywoman of the village, after all. This is kinda my job."
…Woman? Smurfette stepped back. There was another woman? Gargamel had told her, after her creation, that she was the only female Smurf. That's why she had been sent, after all- she was meant to seduce the men and lure them to Gargamel's hovel, where the wizard would do... whatever it was that he wanted to do.
"Well, thank you anyways," she said.
"No problem," the Smurf said, turning to leave. Before she did, though, she turned back. "If you ever need anything else fixed, just call on Handy Smurf! I’ll be there in a jiffy."
"Thank you again, but I really would like some time to myself now…" Smurfette said. Handy nodded and shut the door. Smurfette threw herself onto an overstuffed armchair, sighing loudly. Pulling out her makeup compact from her pocket, she popped it open. "Calling all wizards!" She whispered. "Gargamel! Can you hear me?"
Gargamel appeared in the magic mirror.
"It’s about time. Where are you?"
"I'm in the Smurf Village, and-"
"Excellent! Get out there and capture their little blue hearts! And don't fail! Remember, I made you, and I can break you."
Before Smurfette could say anything more, Gargamel disappeared from the mirror. She leaned back on the armchair and sighed. He hadn't given her any time to explain! Oh well, she thought. That one girl wouldn't give her any trouble anyways. It almost made Smurfette frown, feeling pity for the poor woman who would certainly never have a husband if she kept up this man-like behavior.
Oh, wait. That didn't matter, because they'd all be in Gargamel's clutches by the day's end! Smurfette got out of the chair, slipping her compact back into her pocket, and threw open the door.
"Watch out, world, here I come!" she yelled. As a dazed smurf stumbled out from behind the door, she fluffed up her hair. "Hi there, Smurf. New in town?"
"Ah... I think I am seeing stars..." The Smurf said, before collapsing. Smurfette smiled. Wow, she was pretty good at this! Calmly stepping over the collapsed Smurf, she walked along the path, marveling at the village around her.
Whack!
"Ow!"
Smurfette turned towards the sound. Oh! It was two of the Smurfs she had met earlier. Brainy was holding a wooden post into the ground, and the tall blond Smurf had a hammer. She wondered why they were doing that.
"Yoo-hoo!" She called. The tall Smurf turned towards her.
"Hiya, Smurfette!" He called back. Not looking where he was hammering, he smacked Brainy in the back of the head.
"Ow! Clumsy!! Not again!" Brainy yelled, rubbing where he’d been hit.
"Gee, I’m sorry, Brainy. I’m real sorry."
"Not half as sorry as you’re gonna be," Brainy muttered. "And you can blame it on her!" He turned and pointed to Smurfette. She clasped her hands over her heart.
"Oh, I’m awful sorry. I'm sure there must be something I can do to make it up to you."
Brainy's eyes gleamed. "Really?"
"Sure." She walked around the two Smurfs, and attempted to drape an arm around each of their shoulders from behind. This was incredibly difficult, as Clumsy was almost an entire head taller than her. Seeing Smurfette struggle, he crouched down to her level. Smurfette resumed her speech now that she was in a position she saw as advantageous. "I can think of a few ways to make it up to you two. You boys've been working so hard, for so long... I'd say you deserve a break, wouldn't you?" A break, she thought, during which she'd lead them to Gargamel's hovel. She grinned.
Brainy pushed Smurfette's arm off of himself. "First of all, I'm not a boy. Second of all," he grabbed the hammer from Clumsy and handed it to Smurfette, then pulled Clumsy away from her. "You're right, we do need a break. Here, make it up to us this way. I'll be back in a few hours, so finish it up by then." He let go of Clumsy and walked off.
"Thanks fer offerin' yer assistance!" Clumsy told Smurfette, before he headed in the opposite direction from Brainy. Leaving Smurfette there with a pole, a hammer, and a chore she had no idea how to do. Should she just ditch it? She looked left, and then right. No one was around...
Whistling nonchalantly, she dropped the hammer and pole on the ground and walked off, trying to figure out what she'd do. Clearly, her seduction plan wasn't working. But what would she do instead?
